Ah, poetry… sweet release. I have written poetry since I was in the 5th grade. At that time we did these fun memorization sessions where we would pick a poem we liked, memorize it, and recite it in front of crowds of people. I was really shy at that age so I’m a bit surprised as to how I did that with such confidence. I suppose I flooded my head with a lot of poetry from that time, I always wondered where some of the words came from in recent poems.
Sometimes I write poetry when there is so much going on in my head and I don’t think I could even begin to explain it to others, when I feel overwhelmed. It is a way for me to express myself, not so much to others, but more for the notepad that is receiving the words, verbs, thoughts, and emotions. The notepad has no re-buttle, and no judgements.
As always,
RaysUp!
